The magic of Self-Care and why self-care isn't selfish

Do you ever feel like self-care is a selfish indulgence you can't afford? Do you keep telling yourself I am not there yet, I first have to do XYZ to allow me to do that..Oh I know, I have been there many times.

I'm here to tell you that caring about yourself  it's not just a luxury; it's life-changing.

As a leadership and transition coach for women, I often hear phrases like:

"I just don't know how to find time for myself."

"I am too tired to do something for myself."

"I have to get everything organized before I can take a break."

Believe me, I understand. I've been there, juggling three kids and building my business in a foreign country. The struggle is real, especially when you're navigating the challenges of a new job or the uncertainties of a major life transition.

But here's the truth: when you overcome these mental roadblocks and prioritize self-care, magic happens. Magic like more self-love, new friendships, job opportunities, a positive attitude, and overall increased energy and confidence. In the midst of chaos, taking time for yourself is a precious gift.

Today, I'm sharing my best beginner's tips to help YOU take care of yourself, overcome roadblocks, and unlock these transformations. Let's dive in!

1. Repeat this self-care mantra every day:

"I am doing the best I can with the resources I have available. I am worthy, and I am proud of every step I take, every single day."

2. Make time to talk:

Connect with old friends, new colleagues, and parents on the schoolyard. Talking lifts your mood, provides new perspectives, and releases the weight of negative emotions. Embrace both the positive and negative; it's all part of the journey.

3. Do something new every week:

Explore the power of novelty. Try a different route to the grocery store, visit new places, sample exotic foods, pick up a new hobby, or engage in fresh activities with your kids. The possibilities are endless, and the benefits are transformative.

4. Fill your bucket with things you love:

Discover activities that resonate with you – whether it's boxing, running, dancing, or baking. Join a group or hobby where you can regularly engage with like-minded people. Doing what you love fills your mind with positivity and dismantles mental obstacles.
